Does the Hendershot Generator Work?

Off-Grid Output separates established power-system principles from historical reports and seller claims. The goal is to help you understand what you are evaluating before spending money or attempting an electrical project.

The short answer

There is a difference between historical interest in Hendershot’s experiments and independently establishing the performance claims made for modern reproductions. We found historical reporting and modern seller documentation, but that does not by itself demonstrate the extraordinary output claims.

Three evidence buckets

Historical reports show that Hendershot attracted attention. Merchant claims describe what the modern product says buyers can achieve. Established electrical engineering gives us a framework for measuring input, output, losses and repeatability. Those categories should not be blended.

What would persuasive evidence look like?

Useful validation would require transparent measurements, repeatable independent tests, clearly documented inputs and outputs, and replication by technically competent third parties.
